Elmira College Athletics Hall of Fame Nominations Now Being Accepted

Elmira, NY (06/12/2019) — The Elmira College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting nominations for the first-ever Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class, which will be enshrined on Friday, November 15, as the opening event of the 38th Annual Athletics Alumni Weekend. Nominations will be accepted today through July 1.

Who Qualifies?

Former student-athletes, teams, as well as current or former coaches, administrators and athletics staff are eligible to be nominated. Honorary members - consisting of those who do not meet the aforementioned categories - are also eligible.

Former Student-Athletes

1. Candidate must have graduated from Elmira College, no exceptions, and a lapse of 10 years must have occurred since their last season of competition. The candidate must have exhibited acceptable standards of conduct during competition. Moral character and good citizenship during both undergraduate and post-graduate years will be taken into consideration. Candidates' involvement in the local community and College campus will also be taken into consideration.

2. Outstanding Athletic Achievement: Former student-athletes must have had a significant impact on his/her sport, as evidenced by such accomplishments as All-American, National Champion or qualifier, recipient of various athletic awards and honors, special team nominations (All-Conference, All-Region, Player of the Year), conference/school statistical records, and/or national statistical champion.

3. Outstanding post-collegiate athletic endeavors will also be taken into consideration.

Coaches/Administrators/Athletics Staff

1. Candidates must have coached the same sport at Elmira College for a minimum of two (2) years.

2. Candidates must have had an outstanding record of contributions to the Elmira College athletics program.

3. Candidates must not have left the sport or the institution for reasons detrimental to the image of Elmira College.

4. Length of service to Elmira College will also be taken into consideration.

Former Teams

1. Team must be ten (10) years removed from their last season of competition.

2. Team must have had outstanding achievements varying from team awards, team honors, national rankings, school records set, national team statistical leaders, conference championship, regional championship, tournament championship and/or national championship.

3. Team must have exhibited acceptable standards of conduct during competition. Moral character and good citizenship will also be taken into consideration.

Honorary

1. Candidates from this category include other graduates, faculty and staff members, and/or friends of Elmira College.

2. Candidates will be considered who, by virtue of their time, resources and dedication, have significantly supported, enhanced and advanced the interscholastic athletic programs of Elmira College.

3. Candidates must possess and display good character and citizenship.
