Stringham '19 Represents Equestrian Team at Regional Show

Elmira, NY (03/06/2019) — Elmira College Equestrian team captain Sydney Stringham '19 recently competed at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Zone 2 Region 1 Regional Competition at Cornell University's Oxley Arena. Stringham qualifed for the Regional by accumulating 36 points throughout the regular season based on her placings from each regular show throughout the season.

"It was an amazing experience that culminated after two years of training and showing under the guidance of ECET's coaches, Stacy Lowe-Jonas and MaryLou Spencer of Foxmoor Farm," said Stringham of the Regional Competition.

The EC Equestrian Team ended the season at Regionals by achieving IHSA Zone 2 Region 1 as 10th place High Point Team. The regular season team, consisting of Sydney Stringham '19, Fallon Huck '22, and Megan Allenza '21, was the smallest among the competition in Zone 2 Region 1 performances.

The IHSA was founded in 1967 by Robert Cacchione. IHSA now encompasses 40 Regions in eight Zones with over 400 member colleges throughout 45 states in the U.S. as well as Canada, representing 10,000 members in hunter seat equitation, western horsemanship, and reining.
