Students Inducted Into Triota Honor Society

Elmira, NY (02/27/2019) — Three students recently were inducted into the Elmira College Chapter of Iota Iota Iota (or Triota), the National Women's Honor Society. Triota strives to maintain the feminist values central to Women's Studies: egalitarianism, inclusiveness, and a celebration of the diversity of women's experiences.

This year's inductees were Rachel Leben '19, Zeke Cammarata '19, and Liz McIlwain '19. The featured speaker for the 2019 induction ceremony was EC Triotan alumna Stephanie Spinos Holmes '14, whose inspirational talk focused on her journey from Elmira College into the work world.

Holmes expressed her sincere appreciation for Elmira College in her closing words to the inductees, "Sexual assault, harassment, and discrimination permeate every corner of our society and nothing can prepare a person for some of those experiences. But the beautiful thing about Iota Iota Iota, and even EC in general, is that we can seek comfort in knowing that there are people out there that care about us, care about equality for people of all walks of life, and are fighting for things to get better. Congratulations to you all, and I wish you well in your pursuits outside of this beautiful bubble."
