Amy Galton Presented the Dr. Kathleen Sward Excellence in Nursing Prize

Amy Galton of Ithaca, New York (14850) was awarded the Dr. Kathleen Sward Excellence in Nursing Prize during the annual Nurse Pinning Ceremony in Speidel Gymnasium. The ceremony, hosted by the Elmira College nurse education program, recognized Amy and the other students who completed the requirements for a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

The Dr. Kathleen Sward Excellence in Nursing Prize was established and endowed by Dr. and Mrs. Edward Grandt to recognize a graduating student who has demonstrated academic and clinical excellence in nursing. Dr. Kathleen Sward was the first Director of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program. Dr. Grandt, a highly respected physician and former trustee of the College, was instrumental in the development of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program.
