Courtney Howell '12 Graduates from Elmira College

Elmira College held its 157th Commencement on Sunday, June 3rd at the First Arena, in Elmira, New York.

Graduating Magna Cum Laude, Courtney Howell of Florida, NY, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and was presented the Dr. Kathleen Sward Nursing Excellence Prize established and endowed by Dr. and Mrs. Edward Grandt to recognize a graduating student who has demonstrated academic and clinical excellence in nursing. Dr. Kathleen Sward was the first Director of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program. Dr. Grandt, a highly respected physician and former trustee of the College, was instrumental in the development of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program..

Elmira College President Dr. Thomas Keith Meier delivered the Commencement Address to the graduates, their friends and family, college administrators, faculty and staff, President Meier was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at this year's Commencement.

Elmira College awarded two Associate degrees at this year's Commencement. There are one hundred sixty-eight graduates who earned Bachelor of Science degrees, and one hundred eleven graduates who earned Bachelor of Arts degrees.

The College awarded twenty-one students the Master of Science in Management degree. Seventy-eight Master of Science in Education degrees were conferred at this year's Commencement.
