For the second time during the 2017 season, Natalie Schieder '19 of the Elmira College women's volleyball team will be taking home Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Monday, October 30. Schieder also claimed the conference's top weekly honor on October 2nd.

The Alden, New York, native amassed 99 kills (4.50 per set), 15 aces (0.68 per set), 98 digs (4.45 per set) and seven blocks (0.32 per set) in a 2-3 week for the Soaring Eagles. Schieder produced 20-plus kills in four of the five matches and had double-digit kills in all five contests. She also logged double-doubles in matches against Keystone, SUNY Oneonta, Bard and Hartwick, which gave the junior outside hitter her team-leading 20th double-double of the year.

Her best match of the week was a 24-kill, 28-dig performance against SUNY Oneonta, a contest in which Schieder tied her career-high dig total. With her standout performances, Schieder concluded the 2017 regular season as the Empire 8's leader in kills per set (4.15) and is the only player in the conference ranked inside the top-five in both kills per set and digs per set (3.67).

Schieder ended the 2017 regular season with 502 kills, which is tied for ninth-most in EC single-season history with Leah Malliris '01, who is Elmira's current record holder for career kills. Schieder is just the 10th player in program history to record 500 kills in one season.
