'Elmira is My Place' Challenge Underway

Elmira, NY (02/01/2021) — Term II at Elmira College kicked off virtually on January 19, with the College moving to in-person classes the week of February 1. The new year and new term also bring a new look.

The refreshed look reconnects the visual brand to the College's history, returning to the more traditional purple and gold. The eagle head used by EC sports teams has been added to the graphics line-up to help build spirit and recognition.

To celebrate, students, employees, and alumni are invited to participate in the College's "Elmira is My Place" campaign throughout the month of February. What makes Elmira College YOUR place? Is it a favorite space on campus? A beloved tradition? Or the close connections to classmates or colleagues? Each week, a themed challenge will be posted on the College's social media. Students, employees, and alumni are invited to share photos, thoughts, or stories related to the theme, using #MyElmira. At the end of the week, random names will be drawn from those who posted about that week's theme and used the #MyElmira tag, for some EC swag.

The campaign culminates on Friday, February 26 with the College's first Spirit Day of 2021. The names of everyone who participated in the themed challenges throughout the month will be put into a drawing for a grand prize, sponsored by President Lindsay. A student, an employee, and an alumni winner will be chosen.

Why participate? The Elmira College community is a close-knit, fun-loving community with just the right amount of quirky, and even in the midst of these challenging times, Elmira is your place to be who you are and rise to the challenges of the day.

Week 1 Challenge: Whether it's in a classroom or a conference room, in a scientific field, a sports field, on a stage, in a lab, or part of a club, we know that for students, employees, and alumni, Elmira is your place. But what's your favorite spot on campus?
