#WhatToDoWednesday: TEACH
Elmira, NY (12/19/2018) — Today's #WhatToDoWednesday highlights TEACH, the campus club dedicated to education and teaching. TEACH stands for Taking Education A Cut Higher. As a club devoted to preparing future educators, they strive to connect classroom content with real world experience.
The club is also committed to community service and they include several projects throughout the year that use their teaching talents and passions to improve the surrounding community. TEACH has hosted Reader's Theater at several community events, hosted a Girl Scout troop and helped them earn badges, hosted after-school programs on campus, sponsored guest speakers, and attended and presented at conferences.
Sally Hogan '19, member of TEACH, said, "My favorite parts about TEACH are how informative the meetings are, how helpful everyone is, and how close you get with everyone in the club."
TEACH club meets the first and third Wednesday of every month at 7pm in GTL 114, where they discuss current issues facing the classroom and how to transition from student to teacher.
"Like" them on Facebook (Teacher Education at EC) to keep up with events! Although the club is mostly Education and Speech and Hearing Majors, all are welcome to join. Any questions can be sent to teach@elmira.edu.
