#WhatToDoWednesday With Red Cross Club

Elmira, NY (01/23/2019) — Today's #WhatToDoWednesday spotlight on Elmira College clubs and organizations is all about the Elmira College Red Cross Club! The EC Red Cross Club reaches out to the local community through opportunities with their parent organization, the American Red Cross. Together, they organize four blood drives each school year.

According to the Red Cross website, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood and three lives can be saved with just one donation. Today (1/23) they are holding their third blood drive of the academic year. It runs from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Meier Hall, Stephan's Lounge.

In addition to hosting blood drives, the Elmira College Red Cross Club works with other organizations in the community. They plan trips to volunteer at the SPCA, have raised money to install fire alarms in houses, and have gathered food and other goods to send to soldiers.

EC students interested in joining them to make lifesaving impacts and help out in the local community, should attend a meeting, which are every other Monday at 4:00 p.m. in the Gannett-Tripp Library, Room 1. Contact redcrossclub@elmira.edu if you have any questions. Follow them on Facebook at ECRedCrossClub for club updates!
