Active Shooter Drill Planned for November 6

Elmira, NY (11/05/2019) — The College will conduct a campus emergency active shooter drill the morning of Wednesday, November 6.

Students are to attend class as they normally would. Employees should follow their normal work routine. Once the drill begins, specific instructions will be sent via e2Campus text alerts, email, and network messages.

The drill will utilize all campus emergency communication channels, including the College's social media streams. Throughout the drill all communications will include "DRILL DRILL" to indicate messages are part of the drill and that the events taking place are not real. At the conclusion of the drill, an "all clear" message will be issued through e2Campus and on social media.

Members of the Elmira College community that have not yet signed up for e2Campus Alerts, should do so today. To sign up, click here.

Students, faculty, and staff should continue to familiarize themselves with the emergency preparedness information posted on the Campus Safety web page.

Any students, or employees, who are concerned about the drill and its impact on their wellbeing, are encouraged to reach out to Dr. Kevin Murphy, associate dean of students, at kmurphy@elmira.edu or Katie Basu, director of counseling, at cbasu@elmira.edu.
