Art Club Puts Final Touches on Pediatric Unit Mural

Elmira, NY (05/30/2019) — The Elmira College Art Club has been spending a majority of their time this term working on a special mural project for the pediatrics unit at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, to create a more welcoming and bright atmosphere for hospital staff, visitors,, and most importantly, the children within the unit.

"The initial idea was to put an elephant on the wall with balloons that had each nurse's name as a "meet the staff" initiative," said Mo Walker, clinical coordinator of the pediatrics unit. That small request turned in to numerous murals painted throughout the unit, and requests for murals in other areas of the hospital and other facilities.

"Dr. Gardner, head of pediatrics, has requested to get in contact with these young ladies to do some work in the pediatrics clinic," stated Walker.

"We would all like to thank Mo, the 4C nurses, and staff for inviting us into their unit to paint, and we are excited to see where this journey takes us next," said Megan Spirowski '20, president of the EC Art Club.
