Bette A. Mammone '78 Memorial Academy
Elmira, NY (08/08/2018) — In the Elmira College tradition of giving, like the many classes before them, the Class of 1978 wished to endow a meaningful gift to the College in honor of its 40th Reunion in June 2018. Following the untimely passing of a beloved classmate, Bette A. Mammone '78, in June 2017, the Class's legacy gift came into focus.
The gift established the Bette A. Mammone '78 Memorial Academy, which honors exceptionally successful alumni in business, leadership, community, educational, or philanthropic endeavors by inviting them to participate in an on-campus event with students, faculty, and other alumni. Alumni are selected based on their professional expertise and achievements, as well as dedication to charitable and community initiatives.
One recipient is selected each year. In order to qualify recipients must have received their undergraduate or graduate degree from Elmira College and have achieved a high-level of professional success in a minimum 20-year career. They must be willing to travel to Elmira College in October of that year to facilitate a discussion, a lecture or master class, and participate in a networking event with students, alumni, guests and members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
The recipient of the inaugural Bette A. Mammone '78 Memorial Academy is Steve Glick '78. As recipient, Steve will host a presentation and discussion on October 5, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. in Peterson Chapel.
