Clay Presents Paper at Criminology Conference in Australia

Elmira, NY (01/17/2020) — Elmira College's Dr. Daniel N. Clay presented his working paper "Banning the Box: Lessons from Australia and the United States" at the 2019 ANZSOC Conference on December 12, 2019, in Perth, Australia. Clay's paper explores research and compares the impact of criminal records, related laws, and the outcomes for ex-offenders in both Australia and the United States.

The presentation was met with excitement at the conference, Clay fielding invitations to collaborate on transnational research projects related to comparative law and, especially, the impact of criminal records on ex-offenders and rates of recidivism.

Clay's next planned speaking engagement is at the 2020 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas. While there, he will chair a panel entitled "Reducing Discrimination in the Justice System and Reducing the Fear of Crime." During this panel, Clay will present his up-to-date findings and new veins of research on the effect and impact of comparative criminal record laws in the United States and Australia.

Clay has written books, book chapters, and articles involving comparative law with related presentations taking him to London, England and Delhi, India.
