Community Invited to Women's Health, Wellness Symposium
Elmira, NY (02/26/2019) — The Elmira College Nurse Education Program will host the annual Dr. Anita B. Ogden Symposium on Friday, March 15 from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. in Stephans Lounge, Meier Hall.
The event, focused on women's health and wellness, features Pam Conrad, PGd, BSN, RN, CCAP. Conrad has a rich and diverse nursing history spanning over 20 years in medical center hospitals as a level 1 trauma ER/OR, cardiology, psychiatric and women's health nurse, where she also completed her Clinical Aromatherapy for Health Care Professionals (CCAP) certification course. She lived and studied advanced clinical aromatherapy and graduate complementary therapy studies with nurses, doctors and midwives in England and France for two years.
Conrad is an international speaker and has presented her aromatherapy work in Canada, UK, Chile, Japan, Ireland, Mexico and throughout the US. In 2012, she conducted aromatherapy research with statistically significant positive results on "Clinical Aromatherapy for High Risk Postpartum Anxiety and Depression" and published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice (Conrad and Adams 2012). In 2015 and 2017, advancing her women's health aromatherapy programs to South America, she developed curriculum in Spanish for midwives in Chile.
In May 2019, Conrad's book, "Women's Health Aromatherapy - a clinically evidence based guide for nurses, midwives, doulas and therapists" will be published in the US and UK. The book will share and explain current women's health clinical aromatherapy research and provide concise, easy to follow methods and quick tips for use by practicing nurses and midwives.

About Dr. Anita B. Ogden
Dr. Anita B. Ogden, a nationally known nursing leader, was director of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program from 1989 until her death in 2000. Dr. Ogden considered complementary therapies to professional nursing care and an important adjunct to traditional medicine. Primary funding for support of the symposium comes from an endowment established in Dr. Ogden's memory that is supported by colleagues, alumnae, and friends. Additional support is provided by Rho Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Professional Nurses of the Twin Tiers.
