Conger Published in "Journal of Contemporary Athletics"
Elmira, NY (08/16/2018) — Dr. Darius Conger, visiting professor of economics, recently published a paper in the Journal of Contemporary Athletics. Along with two other professors, Conger and company take a deeper look at the potential impact spending on athletics has compared to academics in their piece "Does Spending on Athletics Impact Investment in Academics? The Case of Football Spending and Faculty Salaries."
According to Conger, "This paper investigates the interrelationship between faculty salaries and spending on football. Using data on overall spending patterns by institutions on faculty instruction and intercollegiate athletics, we find evidence of a complementary relationship between athletic spending (football) and education."
