Distinguished Service Award to be Presented to Dr. Lloyd Cook '79
Elmira, NY (01/23/2019) — Elmira College proudly announces that Dr. Lloyd Cook '79, M.D., FACP, will receive the 2019 Distinguished Achievement Award, which will be presented at Reunion 2019. This award recognizes Elmira College alumni who have distinguished themselves and the College by making a difference in society by improving the quality of life in their local, national, and global communities, and who have demonstrated success as a leader in their professional and community work.
Lloyd graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry. After graduating from Elmira, Lloyd attended State University of New York Upstate Medical University and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1983. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine, Lloyd completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Lloyd is currently the Assistant Medical Director at Medical Mutual of Ohio. Previously, Lloyd worked as a Physician Consultant at Medical Mutual of Ohio and as a Physician at St. Vincent Medical Group.
Additionally, he has served on a number of committees at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, published several articles in medical journals and presented at medical conferences. Lloyd's contributions to medicine are leaving a lasting impact. A long-time patient of his recently passed away and left a substantial monetary donation to the hospital in his name for the excellent care she received.
Lloyd credits much of his professional success to Elmira College and the relationships gained here.

In recognition of his wonderful experiences at Elmira College, Lloyd gives back to ensure current students have the same opportunities. He is currently an active member of the Alumni Board of Directors and was appointed to the Health Advisory Committee for the Cowles Health Sciences Center.
