Dr. Corey Stilts Named Provost at Elmira College
Elmira, NY (07/23/2019) — Elmira College is pleased to announce that Dr. Corey Stilts, associate professor of chemistry, has been named Provost at Elmira College.
Stilts has been a member of the Elmira College faculty since 2009. Prior to that he was an assistant professor of chemistry at Chatham University in Pennsylvania, visiting assistant professor of chemistry at Illinois College in Illinois, and post-doctoral lecturer of organic chemistry at Mercyhurst College in Pennsylvania.
Stilts fills the role as Dr. Charlie Mitchell, previous provost and professor of American studies, returns to the classroom full-time.
"Dr. Mitchell has been an integral member of the Elmira College leadership, and we always knew he would return to his real passion, teaching undergraduate students," said Dr. Charles Lindsay, College president. "Dr. Stilts is well respected by his colleagues and has already assisted in gaining approval for our new environmental science degree and chemistry major by creating four tracks within the program: a professional track, a chemistry education track, a pre-med track, and a plant medicinal chemistry track. Corey understands how faculty can contribute to the overall success of the institution, and I look forward to having him join the College's leadership team."
Stilts received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh and his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University at Buffalo.
