EC Virtual Concert Ensemble Accepting Applications

Elmira, NY (11/04/2020) — The Elmira College Concert Ensemble is taking its performance virtual this year and is now accepting applications from interested students, employees, alumni, and community members.

Applications, which are due December 16, are being accepted from anyone who plays a traditional "band" instrument such as the flute, clarinet, trombone, trumpet, percussion, etc. While each ensemble member will practice the music individually, there will be a virtual workshop with the composer, and the ensemble's director, Michael Cuomo, is available to help with the more difficult passages. The virtual concert is set for April 6, 2021.

Cuomo taught instrumental music in the public schools for 14 years and has directed the Elmira College Pep band. He is a trumpet player who has played professionally in the area for nearly 30 years and has played with Paul Anka, The Smothers Brothers, Robert Goulet, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Leslie Gore, Fabian and, his personal favorite, Lou Christie.
