Filmmaker Carlos Rossini at Elmira College

Elmira, NY (10/10/2018) — Argentine/Mexican documentarian, Carlos Rossini, will host a discussion of his work on Friday, October 12 at 12:30 p.m. in Tifft Lounge, Campus Center. The award-winning filmmaker is visiting Elmira College as part of collegiate tour which also includes Cornell University, Colgate University, University of Rochester, and Syracuse University.

Segments from Rossini's films will be screened Wednesday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gannett-Tripp Lecture Hall. The Elmira College community is invited to preview Rossini's work at that time, and then bring questions and comments for Friday's conversation with the filmmaker. Rossini is also poised to talk about producing political and social documentaries in Latin America, cinematography in the documentary film, gaining freedom to do the projects he wants, and about his visual/narrative style. All are welcome to both events.

Rossini, an award-winning Latin American director and producer, has been working in documentary film for over 10 years. He has directed documentaries such as Palabras Mágicas (2012), winner of Best Cinematography at Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de la Ciudad de México, and El Alcalde (2012), winner of Best Documentary at the Baja International Film Festival.

In 2004, Rossini and producer Emiliano Altuna created bambú|audiovisual, a Mexico City-based production company. Specializing in the development and production of documentary and fiction films, they have produced award-winning films including Al otro lado del muro (2017), Guerrero (2017), El Alcalde (2012), Un Mundo Secreto (2012), and El Ciruelo (2009).
