Jim Twombly Elected Vice President Of The New York State Political Science Association

Elmira, NY (05/26/2022) — Dr. Jim Twombly, Professor of Political Science at Elmira College, was recently re-elected to a third consecutive term as Vice President of the New York State Political Science Association.

Twombly has been a regular presenter at the Association's annual meetings since 2012 and had previously served as Chair of its American Politics Section.

For the last two years, Twombly also served as Co-Program Chair for the annual meetings with Dr. Josh Meddaugh, Department Chair at Clayton State University in Georgia and a member of the Elmira College Class of 2007.

Along with his service, Twombly also presented a paper entitled "Considerable and Salutary Restraint: Effects of Polarization on U.S. Senate Dissent on Presidential Cabinet Nominations." The paper is part of an ongoing project that Twombly hopes will become the foundation for a book proposal this fall.

"I have to get through the manuscript for a second edition of Directing the Whirlwind that I wrote with Lisa K. Parshall of Daemen College in 2020 first," said Twombly. "We hope to have that off to Peter Lang Publishing by early July."
