Kathryn Jenkins Education Prize Awarded
Elmira, NY (06/08/2020) — Each year, one Elmira College student is recognized with the Kathryn Jenkins Education Prize. The prize was given by Dr. Janice Beaty Janssen, Professor Emerita of Human Services, in memory of an outstanding teacher in the Elmira City Schools, to be awarded to the graduating student, either graduate or undergraduate, who shows the greatest promise in the field of childhood education. This year's recipient is Alex VanAernam '20.
"I am beyond honored to be recognized for my passion and abilities as a future educator," said VanAernam. "It means the world to me that my professors and the rest of the EC staff see my potential in positively impacting, engaging, and educating my future students. I am forever thankful for the skills, tools, and opportunities that my professors have provided me to learn and practice my craft. With this experience in the education program at EC, I feel empowered and prepared to go out and teach the incoming generations of students. From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
