Khawar and Imai Co-Author Political Economy Paper

Elmira, NY (11/14/2019) — Associate Professor of International Relations, Dr. Kunihiko Imai, and Professor of Economics, Dr. Mariam Khawar, recently co-authored a paper titled "Geography, Culture, Institutions and Economy." Additionally, the paper was published in the International Journal on World Peace, a professional journal in the field of political science.

The paper examines various factors and the impacts they have on democracy. Stated in the abstract, "Political scientists have analyzed democracy from various angles and have built an extensive body of literature. Little is known, however, about the impacts of culture, geography, and political institutions upon democracy, presumably due to the difficulties with operationalizing the concepts."

The full paper can be found in the International Journal on World Peace, XXXVI, Number 2, on pages 61-98. To learn more about the journal, click here.
