Move-In Mondays: Campus Hotspots
Elmira, NY (08/17/2020) — Move-in day and orientation are almost here, and our "Move-In Monday" series continues with key locations and resources for the Class of 2024. Today, the Residence Life team shares some of the go-to spots on campus that help make life at Elmira College a little easier:
- Download and print the campus map to have on-hand your first week.
- The Bursar's Office is where you go to handle any billing questions or make payments. This is different than the Financial Aid Office, but both offices are located on the first floor of McGraw Hall.
- The Registrar's Office handles all student records. Stop by this office, also on the first floor of McGraw Hall, if you have questions about class registration or transcripts.
- If you need to mail or ship something, visit the campus Post Office located near the fountain, across from the Bookstore.
- The Residence Life Office is located in the Student Life Suite on the first floor of Campus Center. Residence Life Coordinators are in specific residence halls and are there to help make your transition easier.
- The Campus Center is a central spot on campus. The CC is home to Campus Engagement, Residence Life, Starbucks, the George Waters Art Gallery, the Multicultural Center, Tifft Lounge, and the main campus dining options - the Dining Hall (second floor) and MacKenzie's (first floor).
- If your ID card is lost or stolen, visit Campus Security located in the Corey House (720 Park Place, across the street from McGraw Hall). Add the Campus Security number to your contacts in your cell phone: 607-735-1777. Campus Security personnel are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in the event of an emergency or for assistance, including escorts anywhere on campus at any time. Also, be sure to sign up for our Alert system to receive emergency and weather-related alerts.
- The Gannett-Tripp Library is home to many helpful spots, including: Career Services, the Tutoring Center, computer labs, and the IT Help Desk, as well as Counseling, Student Success, and the Writing Center.
- The Clarke Health Center can help manage prescription medications, and also help treat colds, strains, or scrapes. Need a mask? Visit the Clarke Health Center. Feeling ill with coronavirus-type symptoms? Immediately make an appointment with the Clarke Health Center by calling (607) 735-1750 or emailing Director of Health Services, Wendy Fiscus, at wfiscus@elmira.edu.
- Emerson Hall is home to Speidel Gymnasium, our fitness center, and Gibson Theatre. While the fitness center is not currently open due to NYS health guidelines, the center offers a full range of equipment for students' use. Watch for updates to the center's availability.
- Can't find something, or have questions? Don't be afraid to ask fellow classmates, upperclassmen, or any staff member. Until then, enjoy all that our purple and gold campus has to offer!
