Nominations Open For Elmira Key Awards

Elmira, NY (02/14/2022) — Nominations are now being accepted for the Elmira College Key Awards. An award of merit, the Key Award is presented to outstanding students in their junior year of high school or preparatory school. Students are nominated for the award by their high school guidance counselors.

Each Key Award winner receives an $80,000 scholarship, $20,000 per year, over a four-year period upon enrolling at Elmira College. If a Key Award winner is eligible for a merit scholarship of a greater value at the time of admission to Elmira College, that scholarship supersedes the Elmira College Key Award, but the student will still be recognized as a Key Award winner. Recipients attending EC are also honored in the fall of their freshman year by the Elmira College Alumni Association and are presented with the Elmira College Key.

Selection criteria for the Key Award include a minimum academic grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale), demonstrated outstanding school and community leadership, and an interest in an academic program offered by Elmira College.

Sponsored by the EC Alumni Association, the Elmira College Key Award recognizes students for high academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, and participation in extracurricular activities. The award has been presented since 1935.
