One Elmira: Pulling Together at this Difficult Time

Elmira, NY (04/20/2020) — The terrible impact of the Coronavirus has affected lives around the world, presenting unprecedented health and economic challenges.

At Elmira College, we are pulling together in this fight.

Elmira College has donated personal protective equipment from its Nurse Education program and from the Clarke Health Center to front line health care workers in NYC. The College is working with the local Arnot Health to provide resources. EC alumni are among the brave healthcare providers who are on the front lines in hospitals and clinics. Other alumni are working at essential businesses to ensure their communities remain supplied with essential supplies.

Though all of our daily lives have been altered, some members of our community are hurting, including students whose families have been adversely affected by COVID-19. Therefore, we are suspending our usual Elmira Everlasting spring day of giving activities. In the past, the day has focused on spirited Class Challenges and friendly competition.

Instead this year, we are asking alumni to pull together to consider helping our students facing significant challenges by joining fellow alumni in making gifts to the Extraordinary Circumstances Fund between now and Wednesday, April 22, the original day for Elmira Everlasting.

Created by Senior Class Gifts by the Classes of 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, the College's Extraordinary Circumstances Fund helps students who face unexpected, emergency financial need to remain enrolled at EC. Since the spread of the virus, this need for these funds has increased dramatically.

We know that many in our greater community are hurting. We greatly appreciate any gift, no matter the size, that will help our students continue their EC education during these challenging times.

We are #OneElmira and together, we will pull the EC community through this challenging time. Thank you for your consideration and your generosity.
