Seybold Attends "Dirt & Debt" Talk as Guest Speaker
Elmira, NY (06/17/2019) — Dr. Matt Seybold, assistant professor of American Literature & Mark Twain Studies, recently was a guest speaker for the Dirt & Debt Residency in Brooklyn, New York. The three-month residency brought together conceptual artists from across many mediums, disciplines, and backgrounds. The residency offered participants dedicated workspaces and weekly discussions with experts in finance, economics, biology, and environmental science.
Seybold's visit was part of the final week of the residency, at which he presented some of his work-in-progress and hosted one-on-one meetings with each of the artists. Seybold also participated in an interdisciplinary panel discussion with the curators and other guest speakers on ecology, finance, & art.
"Spending time with the Dirt & Debt artists was intense and inspiring, unlike anything I've done before," said Seybold. "These are truly fascinating people and projects."
The events listed above took place on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Residency Unlimited (the event sponsor) which is located in Brooklyn, NY. The residency was curated by Jane Philbrick and Dr. Livia Alexander. For more information on the residency and events mentioned, click here.
