Student's Post-Graduation Decision Carries on Family Tradition
Elmira, NY (04/23/2019) — As the June 2019 Commencement approaches, the Office of Career Services is taking a look at where members of the Class of 2019 are headed after graduation. This week's, "Where are They Going?," looks at the future plans of Justin Gillule '19, a history major with a political science minor.
"Life is a twisty path full of unexpected turns. My career trajectory has been all over the place in my four years at Elmira College. I've been on paths towards careers in finance, politics, the military, the sciences, and academia. Now, though, I've finally found where my path was always meant to take me: education. I'll be carrying on the family tradition by becoming a third generation teacher.
I will begin attending the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education this July to pursue a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies. My plan is to teach American History at the high school level. Eventually, I would like to return to school to either pursue a PhD or attend law school for my J.D."
Throughout his time at EC, Justin has been involved in Student Association, Phi Alpha Theta, Pi Sigma Alpha, Omicron Delta Kappa, Men's Cross Country, Air Force ROTC, College Democrats, and planning for 2019 Reunion. We wish him all the best as he continues his education at Penn!
