Students, Faculty, and Administrators Honored at Award Banquet

Elmira, NY (03/25/2022) — The Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, recently held in Stephans Lounge, Meier Hall, recognized students, administrators, and faculty for exceptional achievement during their time at Elmira College.

"While you are being honored for your accomplishments, remember that with every honor, with every privilege, comes responsibility to yourself and others," said Dr. Patricia Ireland, Provost, during the celebration. "Tonight's award is not the capstone of your life; it is not a destination to rest in but a marker along the road, that sets your life on course to continue to grow into your best self, which is a life-long journey."

"As the poet [William Butler] Yeats put it, 'Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire,'" said Ireland. "Thank you for shining your light so brightly at Elmira College!"

FACULTY & ADMINISTRATOR AWARDS

Susan Cagir, Assistant Professor of Nursing, was awarded the Faculty Appreciation Award, which is selected by students, for excellence in the teaching profession, interaction with students, and contribution to the quality of the College.

Ytzel Flores Cristiansen, Assistant Director of Campus Life, was awarded the Administrator of the Year Award. The Award is selected by students and presented to an Elmira College administrator who demonstrates enthusiasm and devotion to the job, the College, and to the growth and development of student individuality and responsibility, which through daily actions during the past year has promoted policies and procedures that have been responsive to the needs of students and for the welfare of the College.
