Update, 3/12/20: Dr. Anita B. Ogden Symposium Set for March 20 Cancelled

Elmira, NY (03/10/2020) — UPDATE, 3/12/20: The 2020 Dr. Anita B. Ogden Symposium, scheduled for March 20, has been cancelled.

The Elmira College Nurse Education Program will host the annual Dr. Anita B. Ogden Symposium on Friday, March 20 from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. in Stephans Lounge, Meier Hall.

The event, focused on women's health and wellness, features Kelly Paonessa of D&K Ranch, and Juli Lathrup of the Kramer Foundation. D&K Ranch is a family run horse ranch located in the middle of the Finger Lakes National Forest in Interlaken, New York. In addition to having years of experience with this small horse ranch, Paonessa is also very knowledgeable on equine therapy.

The Kramer Foundation provides certified search dogs for lost and missing persons, cadaver/crime scene dogs, and therapy dogs for several educational programs including counseling agencies, schools, libraries, and victim interviews. Lathrup brings 20 years of experience to the table in this field.

Elmira College is able to bring these professional speakers to the College through a generous gift that provides primary funding for the Dr. Anita B. Ogden Memorial Symposium. Additional support is provided by the Rho Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Professional Nurses of the Twin Tiers.The fee for attendance is $30, which includes a continental breakfast. About Dr. Anita B. Ogden:

Dr. Anita B. Ogden, a nationally known nursing leader, was director of the Elmira College Nurse Education Program from 1989 until her death in 2000. Dr. Ogden considered complementary therapies to professional nursing care and an important adjunct to traditional medicine. Primary funding for support of the symposium comes from an endowment established in Dr. Ogden's memory that is supported by colleagues, alumnae and friends.
