Women's Basketball Named to Top 25 Honor Roll List
Elmira, NY (07/30/2019) — The Elmira College women's basketball team was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for its outstanding academic performance during the 2018-19 academic year, earning a spot on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.
In their first season under Head Coach Devin Shea, the Soaring Eagles posted a 3.58 team grade point average, earning the 16th spot among NCAA Division III institutions. It was the first time the Purple and Gold have been named to the Top 25 since the 2013-14 season. EC was the lone representative from the Empire 8 Conference and was one of 117 programs to earn the distinction across all three divisions of the NCAA, NAIA, and two-year colleges.
"Our student-athletes take that title seriously and strive for excellence on and off the court," said Shea. "It's great to see that they've been recognized for their hard work in the classroom."
