2021 Moser Freshman Prize Awarded at Phi Eta Sigma Induction
Elmira, NY (11/18/2021) — The 2021 Moser Freshman Prize was awarded to seven recipients at the annual Elmira College Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society induction on November 12.
Each year, the Moser Freshman Prize is presented to the student or students achieving the highest grade point average at the end of the first year of full-time academic work.
The Prize was established by Raymond and Nancy Crane Moser '34 to acknowledge and support the academic tradition at Elmira College.
A little about this year's recipients:
- Kristen Aasheim '24: Aasheim is a speech and language disabilities and psychology double major from East Norwich, New York. She serves as vice president for the EC2 Development team and is a member of the EC softball team. She has been named to the Empire 8 President's List and an All-Academic Scholar Athlete.
- Noah Cabral '24: Cabral is a biology major preparing for medical school who hails from Ludlow, Massachusetts. Among his many accomplishments, he is an Elmira Key Award winner.
- Catherine Doyle '24: Doyle is pursuing an adolescent education certification while majoring in history and social studies. Her off-campus home is Campbell Hall, New York. A Key Award winner, she is also involved in Circle K and the TEACH Club.
- Mitchell Haight '24: Haight is a business administration major from Pittsford, New York. He is a member of the ice hockey team and Langdon Award recipient.
- Devon Parente '24: Parente is a chemistry/biochemistry double major from Ithaca, New York. She is a member of Beta Beta Beta, the Biology Honors Society, and a recipient of the CRC Basic Chemistry Award.
- Lindsey Smith '24: Smith is an early childhood and childhood special education major with a concentration in math and a minor in art. A recipient of the Class of 1927 Prize, she is a member of the field hockey team, was published in Selected Freshman Essays and is a member of the TEACH Club. She also serves as Class of '24 vice president, a resident assistant (RA), and a Gold Key Ambassador.
- Olivia Volino '24: Volino is a business administration major from Tioga, Pennsylvania. She has served as president of Venturing.
