A New Year of Legacies
Elmira, NY (09/04/2018) — As the "Transformational Class of 2022" began their journey at Elmira College this past weekend, for 13 incoming students it was the continuation of a family tradition as they followed in family footsteps as EC students.
For Emily Cox '20, having her younger sister Abigail '22, with whom she shares a close bond, join her on her EC journey is exciting.
"We are really, really close and so it's going to be really fun," said Emily. "She's already told me she's going to help me clean up my room.. I'm going to go show her where all of her classes are going to be - it's just so exciting!"
For other families attending Elmira College spans a couple generations.
Emma Cole '22 follows in the footsteps of her sister, Megan Cole '11 and mother, Lisa Cole '06. "It feels pretty amazing [for both of my daughters to attend EC]," said alumna and parent, Lisa Cole. "It feels like the youngest one gets to come home too."
"It's pretty amazing," added Emma's sister, Megan. "She was six when I started college so it's neat to see her here all these years later."
"I'm super excited," said Emma. "I'm ready to carry on this tradition and have my own journey here."
The legacies of the "Transformational Class of 2022" share their family members' love for Elmira College, paving the way for a new generation of legacies to carry on Elmira College and family traditions.
