Art of Spain Exhibit on Display in Gannett-Tripp Library
Elmira, NY (10/26/2018) — The Gannett-Tripp Library is currently exhibiting a display of pieces, including books, prints, music, and films, that exemplify the art of Spain. The display spans the history of Spanish artists, from El Greco, Goya, and Velásquez to modern artists Miró and Picasso. The influence of the art of Spain on Latin American artists is seen in the works of Frida Kahlo, Guillermo del Toro, and Fernando Botero. The pieces were provided by Dr. Lauren Shaw, associate professor of Spanish & Hispanic Studies, and provide a glimpse into Shaw's upcoming Term III class, "Art of Spain." The exhibit is on display now through November 16, 2018.
