Artists Inspired At Quarry Farm
Elmira, NY (08/19/2021) — Area artists recently spent the day on the porch at Quarry Farm, breathing in the lovely vistas the property provides and getting to know others who share in their passion. The event, Clemens and The Pen - Artist Studio Session, is sponsored by the Community Arts of Elmira and Elmira College Center for Mark Twain Studies.
"Mark Twain was interested in a myriad of different subjects," said Joseph Lemak, director of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. "We strive to reflect Twain's insatiable curiosity. While projects focusing on critical analysis of Twain's literary corpus are common, projects emerging from cultural studies, media studies, gender studies, political science, economics, and in this case, the creative arts are always welcome at Quarry Farm."
Now in its third year, the work inspired by the one-day gathering will be exhibited next year in The Przygoda Gallery at Community Arts of Elmira.
Attending artists are selected through an application process. There are no fees and artists engage in self-directed studio time outdoors at Quarry Farm in whatever artistic genre they choose from photography to painting to writing poetry.
