EC Alumnus Part of Inaugural LECOM at Elmira Class
Elmira, NY (12/11/2020) — Recent Elmira College graduate, Zachary Williamson '20, is continuing his education in Elmira as a member of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) at Elmira inaugural class.
Williamson is studying osteopathic medicine with hopes of a specialization in either family medicine, radiology, or cardiology. He credits his undergraduate activities at EC with helping him stand out as a LECOM applicant.
"During my time at Elmira College I was able to build a great resume," says Williamson. "I was able to play a sport, be a tutor for chemistry, be a tour guide, and many other things that helped me stand out amongst other applicants."
LECOM opened its new Elmira campus in July 2020. Through EC's Early Acceptance Agreement with LECOM, announced in 2013, EC students who meet LECOM acceptance requirements have access to reserved, early acceptance spots at LECOM sites. The addition of LECOM at Elmira in 2020 expanded the number of reserved medical spots for EC students to 25, the number of reserved pharmacy spots to 20 and the number of reserved dentistry spots to 5.
The EAP agreement enables select EC undergraduate students provisional acceptance to LECOM when they enroll at EC. EAP students, who continue to meet the LECOM requirements throughout their undergraduate work, are admitted to LECOM upon graduating from EC.
