Elmira College Establishes Online Educational Partnership with Keiser University
Elmira, NY (02/20/2019) — Elmira College and Keiser University recently signed an articulation agreement allowing Elmira College criminal justice majors to be automatically accepted into Keiser University's online Master of Arts in criminal justice or online Homeland Security programs. Elmira students also may earn dual credit while attending Elmira College.
"To work as a practitioner in the field and have career mobility, criminal justice students need a master's degree - especially if they hope to enter law enforcement," said Dr. Daniel N. Clay, assistant professor in criminal justice at Elmira College. "I would recommend that students considering a career in state or local law enforcement pursue a master's degree in criminal justice, while those wishing to work at the federal-level pursue a master's degree in Homeland Security."
For those students seeking to further their education at Keiser University, under the terms of the agreement, Elmira College criminal justice majors who have: (1) completed or are within one academic year of completing their Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from Elmira; (2) earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above a 3.00/4.00; and (3) earned a criminal justice GPA of 3.00/4.00 will:
- Be automatically accepted into either the Master of Arts program in criminal justice or the Master of Arts program in Homeland Security - at the student's choice - upon submission of: a completed Keiser University Graduate School Application form, official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended, and a formal resume.
- Not be required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
- Not be required to pay Keiser University's application fee
In addition, Keiser University will automatically accept and award three credits hours for students who complete Elmira College's course, CRJ 4590: Seminar in Criminal Justice, with a B- or better as it fulfills Keiser University's prerequisite requirements in both programs.
Elmira College students interested in learning more about the new partnership may contact Dr. Daniel N. Clay at dclay@elmira.edu or at 607-735-1928.
