Elmira College Host's Broadway Academy Students

Elmira, NY (05/09/2019) — On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, students from Broadway Academy's APEX after-school program visited Elmira College for a number of activities. Students were able to attend two sessions run by Professor Chris Longwell and George Kuntz, director of campus engagement.

In the session with Longwell, students were taught how to use the wheel to make clay creations and how to raku fire pottery. The activities continued with Kuntz, who had groups of students create a student-run event based on three random objects they chose from a box. The students then attended dinner in the Campus Center dining hall.

This partnership between the Elmira City School District and Elmira College helps foster college and career aspirations for middle school students. The students were hosted on campus by students and faculty in the EC education department.
