Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Theatre Prize Awarded
Elmira, NY (06/25/2020) — Each year, one Elmira College student is awarded this prize, given by Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Sons of the Desert Tent and presented to a graduating theatre major who has demonstrated the potential of a professional career in theatre and film. This year's prize recipient is Sadie Kennett '20.
"Being honored with the Hal Roach, Litt.D. '88 Theatre Prize is the perfect way to end my theatre career at Elmira College," said Kennett. "Thank you for recognizing me, and I will remember Elmira very fondly as I move into my career in theatre."
Roach, a native Elmiran born in 1892, was a Hollywood legend famous for his Our Gang and Laurel & Hardy comedies, and recipient of three Academy Awards. A frequent visitor to campus in his later years, in 1988 Roach delivered the Commencement address at Elmira College.
