Hilfiger Family Announce New Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School Scholarship
Elmira, NY (01/05/2022) — Students attending the Elmira College Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School (THFBS) will soon have the opportunity to get additional support from the family that inspired the program, Elmira natives Tommy Hilfiger and his siblings Andy Hilfiger and Betsy Hilfiger.
Students in the program can apply for the $5,000 scholarship after completing their second year in the program. The money is to be used towards internship needs or accommodations necessary for an internship in Fashion Marketing or Fashion Merchandising during the student's final year of the program and will be added to any existing scholarship up to the total tuition costs.
"My family and I are excited to offer this scholarship to Elmira College students and, in particular, to facilitate the internship portion of the program," said Tommy Hilfiger. "Our goal is to build a pipeline of talent, and that requires hands-on experiences where students can apply their knowledge and network with industry professionals."
"We are extremely thankful to the Hilfiger family for their continued partnership, from establishing the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School and the Tommy Hilfiger Gallery to creating this scholarship," said Charles Lindsay, president, Elmira College. "This program is a wonderful example of how we bring together liberal arts and professional programs to broaden the view our students have of the world."
To apply, students in the THFBS program must have at least a 3.5-grade point average, demonstrate a strong desire to succeed in a diverse and inclusive industry, and exhibit leadership qualities, including involvement on committees and/or volunteering in the local community.
"At Elmira College, we pride ourselves on providing experiential learning and this scholarship will help open doors for students who want an internship within the fashion industry," said Dr. Alison Wolfe, business and economics chair and director of the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School, Elmira College.
