Johnson Presents Case Study at National Conference

Elmira, NY (05/06/2021) — Dr. Stephanie Herzig Johnson, assistant professor of inclusive special education, recently attended and presented a case study at the 2021 Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association from April 8-12. Due to COVID-19, the conference was held virtually.

Johnson presented a microethnographic case study titled, "Inclusive Education in Practice: Inclusion teachers' interactional dynamics and their impact on collaboration." The paper, presented at a session in the Special and Inclusive Education special interest group, examined the collaborative interactions of general and special educators as they implemented inclusive practices. The research breaks important ground in the understanding of the complex interactional dynamics that influence teacher collaboration and ultimately determine its success.

Founded in 1916, AERA is a national research association that strives to advance knowledge about education, encourage scholarly inquiry related to education and to promote the use of research to improve education. The theme of the 2021 conference was "Accepting Educational Responsibility."
