Longwell Ceramic Piece Included in Rosenfield Collection

Elmira, NY (09/18/2019) — A ceramic piece by Professor Chris Longwell, lecturer of art and art history, is included in The Rosenfield Collection of ceramic art recently acquired by the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY. The collection, which includes nearly 3,000 ceramics pieces, is considered the preeminent collection of contemporary functional pottery in the United States.

"In 2011 I had an exhibition at Clayscapes in Syracuse, NY. Louise Rosenfield attended the exhibition and purchased a piece of mine, a small wood fired ceramic jar. At the time I was unaware that she was amassing a prominent collection of ceramic art," said Longwell. "Her collection focuses on utilitarian ceramic art, I was honored to be in her collection amongst some of the best international clay artists!"

The Rosenfield Collection was assembled by David and Louise Rosenfield of Dallas, Texas, Louise Rosenfield, herself an artist, is an honorary trustee of the Everson Museum. The Museum is the first museum to dedicate itself to the collection of American art, creating a permanent collection of ceramics, and many more.
