Mahoney Featured on "Admissions Straight Talk" Podcast
Elmira, NY (06/23/2020) — Recently, Dr. Mary J. Mahoney, associate professor of English, was featured on an informative podcast titled "Admissions Straight Talk." The podcast highlights the field of medical humanities in academics and the impacts on how medical school applicants write their personal statements.
At Elmira College, Mahoney offers courses related to the topics she discusses in the podcast, including a medical humanities course for health and science students as part of the First Year Seminar program, and a Narrative Medicine course.
According to Mahoney, the conversation in the PodCast engages a medical humanities curriculum in order to advise pre-med students on how to approach writing their personal statement on their medical school applications.
