Elmira, NY (11/13/2018) — The Elmira College men's ice hockey team will host the second annual Teddy Bear Toss Game at the Murray Athletic Center on Friday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m., as the Soaring Eagles host Utica College.
At EC's first-ever Teddy Bear Toss on December 2, 2017, Spencer Carter '20 scored his first career goal against Lebanon Valley College, signaling the fans in attendance to throw an assortment of stuffed toys onto the ice.
In total, the Soaring Eagles collected 395 stuffed animals from the event. Following the game, Head Coach Aaron Saul '98, assistant coach Mike Zannella, and student-athletes Chris Moses '19, Anthony Parrucci '20, Nick Ford '20, Andrew Pucci '20, Spencer MacLean '20, Connor Powell '20, Matthew Cuce'20 and Gennaro Anzevino '21 made a special trip to the Catholic Charities of Chemung & Schuyler Counties in downtown Elmira to donate the toys, which were handed out to children from families in need during the holidays.
"We are excited to work with Catholic Charities again this year for our Teddy Bear Toss Game," Saul said. "We are hoping to break the record from last year and collect more toys to help bring joy to kids in our area for the holidays."
Fans who bring a new stuffed animal to the Murray Athletic Center for the Teddy Bear Toss on Friday, November 16, will receive $2.00 off of the price of admission. Cost of admission without a stuffed toy is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students and free for EC students with a valid school ID.
