New Campus Life Name Highlights Focus on Campus Experience
Elmira, NY (01/19/2021) — The Division of Enrollment Management and Student Life at Elmira College has a new name: Enrollment Management and Campus Life. The transition reaffirms the College's commitment to students and their success throughout their campus experience with a goal to be the hub of campus and to support students holistically throughout their time at EC.
In addition, the Office of Student Life has been changed to the Office of Campus Life and the Office of Retention and Advocacy is now the Office of Student Success.
"These changes are an important step in reaffirming our commitment to our students' campus experience and to better reflect the work our staff is doing in support of our students," said Elizabeth Lambert, vice president of enrollment management and campus life. "The out-of-classroom time is an important aspect of a student's time in college, oftentimes creating lasting memories, friendships and mentorships that extend well beyond graduation."
As part of the transition, Karl Koeppel '07, assistant dean of students, was recently promoted to the position of associate dean of campus life, and new staff have joined the Offices of Campus Life and Residence Life.
Ytzel Flores Cristiansen is the new coordinator of campus life. A native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, she moved to New York City a couple of years ago. She graduated summa cumma laude with a bachelor's degree in business communications with a specialization in corporate communication and a minor in psychology from Baruch College. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in digital marketing at Baruch. Flores Cristiansen decided to pursue a career in higher education after her involvement in extracurricular activities at college showed her how meaningful and important the outside-of-the-classroom experience is for college students. She loves fashion, soccer, and cats, and enjoys interacting with students and collaborating with colleagues. She is thrilled to join Elmira College and looks forward to meeting everyone soon.
Amanda Osborne joined EC as the new assistant director of residence life and is very happy to be a part of the Elmira College community. Originally from a small town in Central NY, she received a bachelor's degree in geology and in adolescent education: earth science from SUNY Oswego. She received her master's degree in higher education administration: student affairs from Stony Brook University. She is a huge fan of the Finger Lakes region, ice hockey, and loves to crochet and spend time with her miniature dachshund, Peanut. She enjoys building connections and creating an inclusive community where people can feel welcomed and safe to grow.
"I am pleased to welcome Ytzel and Amanda to the Campus Life team," said Karl Koeppel '07, associate dean of campus life. "While this academic year has provided new challenges for offering campus life experiences for colleges and universities across the country, I am looking forward to starting the new term with a team that is up for the challenge. We have many fun and exciting programs planned for EC students this term."
