New Year, New Faces in Residence Life

Elmira, NY (08/13/2020) — With the beginning of a new Term comes new faces to the Elmira College Residence Life team, including alumnus Karl Koeppel '07 as assistant dean of students.

"I'm so excited to have Karl re-joining the Elmira College team," said Dr. Elizabeth Lambert, vice president of enrollment management and student life. "His professional experience combined with his knowledge of, and love for, EC brings a fantastic dynamic to this young and energetic team."

After graduating from Elmira College with a bachelor's degree in psychology and human services, Koeppel received his Master of Science in Education from the University of Maine. Koeppel recently started his Doctorate in Education, continuing his learning focusing on student development and success in the higher education setting. Throughout his professional career he has had the opportunity to work in a variety of higher education roles supporting student engagement and success.

"I am thrilled to be back at my alma mater," said Koeppel. "We have a great team in place and are looking forward to welcoming students back to campus in a couple of weeks. This is an exciting yet uncertain time, especially for our new students, but the Residence Life team is ready to help students transition into a welcoming and safe learning environment."

In addition to Koeppel, the Residence Life team now includes:

Allie Krohn '19 is a second year Residence Life Coordinator. She received her bachelor's degree as a member of the Elmira College Class of 2019 and is continuing her education at EC in the graduate program. Krohn oversees the residence halls that house first-year students and is incredibly eager for them all to come to campus.

Ashley Span is the new Residence Life Coordinator for Perry and Tompkins Halls. She hails from Hammond, Indiana, and is thrilled to be in the northeast. Previously, she served eight years in the Indiana Army National Guard as a military police officer. Span is ecstatic to be welcomed and accepted into the Elmira College community as a graduate student and an RLC.
