Public Relations Internship Sparks Motivation for Future Career in D.C.
Elmira, NY (08/10/2018) — This weeks #SoaringToSuccess features Adam Horey '21. Adam is a history and political science double major who had a recent internship with Berman and Company in Washington, D.C. This was an eight-week internship that allowed Adam to learn more about the field of public relations. Let's hear about Adam's experience:
"My internship focused around improving my research and written communications skills. I had the chance to improve my writing through letters to Congress and practicing writing letters to the editor and op-eds. I also conducted research for the company on political issues relevant to Berman and Company's interests.
In addition to learning through practical experiences, the company also held weekly meetings where I learned different skills needed in a PR career. These skills included op-ed writing, broadcast pitching, conducting quality research, communicating with reporters, and online advertising.
I am thankful for the staff at Berman and Company for giving me the opportunity to spend my summer interning for them. This internship furthered my interest in politics and motivated me to pursue a future career in Washington, D.C."
