Save The Date: Annual Spring Day of Giving On April 27
Elmira, NY (04/14/2022) — Alumni, students, and friends of Elmira College can share their everlasting love for the Purple and Gold by participating in this year's Elmira Everlasting. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 27 and plan to participate in the College's annual day of giving.
Last year the EC community raised $36,657 and the hope is to raise even more this year. Once again the day includes a bit of fun with the Class Challenge, where each class competes to generate the greatest number of gifts. While the title "Most Everlasting Class," will be won by a few, everyone can feel good in the knowledge that they are supporting the strong academic programs, exceptional undergraduate research, study abroad opportunities, and supportive community environment at Elmira College.
"My favorite part of EC is the emphasis we put on community and tradition," said Sabrina Byrd '22, Class President. "We promote a tight-knit community that supports each other at academic, athletic, art, and social events. We love traditions at EC. Our traditions are the foundations for our community. They allow us to bond and become closer as a campus."
For the Challenge, the number of gifts will be tracked throughout the day, with updates posted on social media. The amount of the gift doesn't matter - whether someone from the Class of 1985 gives $19.85 or $198.50 or $1,985, every gift counts.
"Remember, making a gift, large or small, makes an immediate and direct impact for our students and we can't do that without you," said Lindsay Baker, Director of Annual Giving.
This year another fun component has been added to get the campus community, particularly current students, involved. Elmira College pennants will be distributed to the campus community, and on April 27, those with a pennant can mark their favorite spot on campus, take a photo or video of their location, and post the image or video to social media, being sure to include #ElmiraEverlasting. Share what makes Elmira College special to you while flooding social media with EC pride.
Don't have a pennant or aren't near the campus? That's OK. Share what makes Elmira College 'YOUR PLACE.' Is it a location, like a special building or bench, a tradition, or is it the people you met along the way? On April 27, share what you love about EC on social media, and be sure to include #ElmiraEverlasting.
