Student-Athletes Volunteer at 37th Annual Wineglass Marathon
Elmira, NY (10/05/2018) — This past weekend Elmira College athletics teams again volunteered at the 37th Annual Wineglass Marathon. Students from the women's hockey, field hockey, cheerleading, baseball, and men's soccer teams were located at various locations along the marathon route to hand out water, perform finish line operations, and cheer on runners for the full and half-marathons.
The Wineglass Weekend has been going for more than 30 years, and the weekend has significantly grown over time in race length, number of races, and attendance of runners. The Wineglass full marathon is also a qualifier for the well known Boston Marathon. Nearly 3,000 runners participated in the 2018 races.
