Student Panel Highlights Research on Sports and Society

Elmira, NY (03/05/2020) — The Women's and Gender Studies Program will host a student panel today, March 5, at noon in the Liebich classroom, Emerson Hall. The panel includes five Elmira College students presenting their original psychological and sociological research on sports and society.

Students participating, and their presentation topics, include:

Sarah Garner '20
"Symbolic Interactionism Theory: Explains the Reasoning Why Athletes Quit Their Sports Teams"

Kate Cota '21
"Cheerleading: a Case Study In the Double Bind"

Rafael Joseph '21, Arael Scott '21, and Savannah Terry '21
"How Internalized Oppression and Bro Culture Perpetuate the Sexual Double Standard on College Campuses"
