Student Photography Featured in "Dodge and Burn" Book
Elmira, NY (08/07/2020) — Dodge and Burn 2020, a print-on-demand book, features selected photos and statements by Elmira College students enrolled in Photography I courses during the 2019-2020 academic year. The words "dodge and burn" are rarely spoken in Photoshop's digital language, but it is a phrase quickly learned and spoken by everyone who has ever worked in a darkroom.
This year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, EC photo students were able to create silver print portfolios in the darkroom. Selected images are presented in the annual student publication, Dodge and Burn, as part of a collective memory of better times in the past and hopes for a more promising future.
Contributors to the book include: Keion Safargar '21, Brianna Costley '23, Kenta Okumura '21, Samantha Proseus '23, Cody Metcalf '21, Dakota Weatherly '22, Joel Serrano '21, Megan LaFritz '20, Henry Cleveland '20, Alex Nuez '22, Garrett Coleman '20, Reka deFalussy '21, Carlee Przesiek '23, Brooke Shollenberger '23, Deanna Cofone '21, Megan Mordini '22, Jenna Faccone '21, Yamille Moss '22, Grace Kenneally '22, Rachel Liss '21, and Alice Rosenbloom '22.
Students in the Winter Term finished darkroom work two days before they were required to return home due to the pandemic. This was fortunate for us all!
